U.S. Department of Labor Announces Annual Adjustments to OSHA Civil Penalties

A Trade Release issued by OSHA on January 13, 2021, announced the increase of civil penalty amounts for 2021. These annual adjustments for inflation are made under a 2015 Act passed by Congress, which requires the amounts to be published by January 15.1

The maximum penalties for serious and other-than-serious violations will increase from $13,494 to $13,653 per violation. The maximum penalties for willful or repeated violations will be increased from $134,937 to $136,532 per violation.1
